Aftercare & Commissioning Engineer
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Aftercare and Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for
carrying out aftercare call outs on all handed over and legacy MGME projects.
• To carry out aftercare calls to all handed over and legacy projects, assist office staff in the
scheduling of calls and to record aftercare calls through our construction-based software in
terms of findings for analysis by the quality / commercial department.
• To work with the aftercare, procurement and quality team to price up, source and cost out
parts where required in line with the aftercare policy for the project.
• To identify problematic products or materials and involve suppliers in actions to correct
defects and providing information to the quality and Ops team to feed this back to the
procurement and construction teams.
• To attend regular quality and supervisors’ meetings providing an input in regards to
aftercare problems and reoccurring issues to allow them to be addressed at contract stage
and improvements made to the quality system.
• To carry out commissioning across sites for Air source heat pumps, Exhaust air heat pumps,
HIUs, Electric heating systems and other forms of heating and complete online
commissioning forms to allow handover to the client (Training provided on this from
specialist suppliers).
• Carrying out pre-commissioning checks prior to the commissioning process to confirm all
properties and units are ready to be setup and identifying any uncompleted works to the
relevant parties ahead of time to allow for completion without delaying commissioning.
• To carry out balancing and commissioning of ventilation systems within houses and
apartments in line with airflow rates supplied by the design team and completion of
handover paperwork.
• To liaise with the ventilation validation company to make sure that all units are correctly
validated on their end and that any discrepancies between our readings and theirs are
addressed immediately to avoid impacting BCAR handover dates.
• To assist in the liaising and scheduling of specialist commissioning companies.
• To work with our QA and Ops team in setting up and scheduling of plant maintenance
contracts including liaising with external stakeholders.
• To carry out plant maintenance service works onsite and capture findings through our cloud-
based construction software for issuing on to external stakeholders.
• To identify any remedial works that arise during the plant maintenance service works and
make sure our Aftercare and commercial team have sufficient info to identify works costings
on to end clients.
• To attend regular supplier / industry / specialist training to allow the above tasks to be
carried out.
• The job role may include periodic assistance being provided to the contracts teams where
problems have been identified during construction works that require troubleshooting or
fault finding to resolve.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as Aftercare / Commissioning Engineer or in a
similar position.
• NVQ Level 3 or above in Plumbing.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong oral and written reporting skills.
• Ability to organise tasks, prioritise and delegate if necessary.
• Ability to work under pressure to delivery projective objectives,
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Applications and Construction Based Software e.g.
Procore.
• Full clean driving license.
• Willingness to travel between project sites as needed
